On Education
An educated student is able to integrate language
and
numbers into a knowledge framework on which
a life can be built. This solid information
base allows
a child to approach questions logically, to
draw
reasoned conclusions, make sound choices and,
hopefully, freely live a successful life.
To help a child be the true owner of his thoughts,
actions and days of his life is, I believe, the
true goal of learning.
.
Learning is hard work. Creative use of drills
and
repetition, combined with solid applied learning
techniques, some laughter, whimsy and not a few
cookies help make the effort lighter and easier.
.
Self-esteem is a by-product of solid achievement
and
accomplishment. It cannot be a goal unto its
own.
I assist a student to reach self-defined goals.
Heightened self-esteem follows of its own accord.
.
I believe all students will rise to the level of
expectation
set for them by people who matter. The presentation
of knowledge must be made in a way that makes the
parent, teacher, or tutor matter more than friends,
television, or any other outside factor.
.
Learning moments are powerful memories held for life.
A comfortable, warm, inviting setting can stimulate
a
mind and assist sensory perceptions on levels that
enhance learning. The tutoring environment
is a very
important part of my one-to-one success with students.
